You are listening to Religion, Power, and the Future of America, an evangelistic series brought to you by Gems of Truth.

Tonight's presentation is probably the most relevant 1 out of all, at least when you think about current world events.

It's not only touching on things that the Bible says, it's actually touching on things that are happening around us in world affairs and politics.

And I think it's something that we really have to consider.

The title of today's talk is this will cause national ruin for America.

And again, it's a title that sounds very, very, almost audacious again.

It's a title that makes you think, what in the world can that be?

This might cause, this could cause, right?

People are speculating today, what will happen in the future?

How does America look like in 5, in 10 years, maybe in 20 years?

To say this will cause national ruin for America, what do you mean?

Well, 1 of the most controversial subjects that we have looked at or that you have seen in the news the past 2 years is the war, the Israel-Hamas war.

Tens of thousands of deaths, mostly civilians and billions of dollars of damage in the Middle East.

When you have watched the news the last 2 years, you have seen this.

It's been part of your everyday life almost.

People have talked about this on every channel, in every newspaper, and many people have different opinions on that, and it has affected even the things that are happening in our country very much.

Now tonight, I'm not here to talk politics.

But I need to share something with you that many Americans have no idea about.

And although there is a fragile ceasefire at the moment over there, I think you might appreciate the things that you will hear tonight because there might be another war coming, who knows?

And the things that you will hear tonight could actually go beyond the topic that people are discussing in the news.

Look at this article that I found just a couple months ago from the New York Times.

It says, for American evangelicals who back Israel, Neutrality is not an option.

You don't even have to subscribe to the New York Times to know this.

I mean, if you've been watching the news, if you turn on the television or if you read newspapers regularly, you have seen this.

People have voiced very publicly and very boldly their opinions about this war, and apparently it seems like many are saying, oh, we have to support Israel.

Or should I say, many Christian Americans love Israel.

Now there's nothing wrong with liking a country.

There's also nothing wrong with loving people.

Jesus taught us that we should do that, right?

But why are many Americans so passionate about this topic?

Why do I see people almost enraged on certain news channels saying what they want to say about Israel and this war?

Why do they say neutrality is not an option?

Why did I listen to people saying that we have to help Israel?

I want to share with you briefly what most or very, very, like a lot of Christian Americans who go to church every week think about this topic.

It has to do with their personal beliefs and what they think is coming from the Bible.

And I put these things here, actually 3 points.

The first 1 is God made an eternal covenant with the Jewish nation.

You'll quickly see how this is relevant for the news and the things that are happening around us today.

Okay, they quote Genesis 12 where you have God's promise to Abraham.

They say, you know, God said, I will bless those that blessed you, Abraham, and I will curse those that curse you." Interesting.

And then people say that Israel's 1948 birth, the country of Israel was born, was established in 1948, fulfilled Bible prophecy.

And people quote passages about ancient Israel where God said, I will restore the captivity of my people.

And you know, this is, was talking in that context about the captivity of Babylon and Assyria.

But interestingly, they say, well, in 1948, when Israel became a country again, Bible prophecy was fulfilled.

Not only that, but they say soon Jesus will come back and he will establish his kingdom here on earth in literal Israel with the capital of Jerusalem.

He will defeat the Antichrist and reign for 1000 years with peace and prosperity.

Now, someone who doesn't know anything about this, maybe you're here, you've never heard these points before, Maybe you don't read the Bible, okay?

And you see these points, you're thinking that's almost crazy.

But this is friends, what tens of millions of Americans believe today.

Look at these highlights from the New York Times article.

Fear of, sorry, 4 out of 5 American evangelicals say that the creation of the modern state of Israel in 1948 and the return thereof millions of Jewish people were fulfillments of biblical prophecy.

The intensity of American evangelical attachment to the state of Israel is impossible to disentangle from popular beliefs about the role of the state of Israel in the end times.

In other words, the reason why many people love Israel today is because they have certain beliefs and that comes from Bible prophecy.

Do you understand the connection here, right?

They believe certain things about the Bible.

They say certain things have been fulfilled.

They believe that about Israel today and that influences their actions today.

It goes all the way to the politicians, it goes to the government, to the very top.

And our foreign policies are being influenced because people have certain views that they take from the Bible.

Now, the question we have to ask ourselves though is, since, you know, like, are those expectations really rooted in scripture?

Since when do we find these things there?

Does this book really talk about these things?

1 of the most dangerous things you can do as a Christian is read 1 or 2 verses and then create a worldview out of it.

Right, instead of looking at what the whole book has to say about a topic, you take 1 verse over here and you take 1 verse at the very end, and then you say, oh, this makes a lot of sense to me right now, and you create your worldview and you base your decisions upon these 2 verses.

It's like, you know, 1 of these, I don't know why I keep getting these lately, 1 of these checks that arrive in your mail already with your name written on it, it says you can earn, or you can have $20, 000.

And then it says, you know, if you read the fine print, that's a loan and you gotta pay back with 30% interest or something like that.

And it's like that, we take that and we say, oh, I got $20, 000 and we say, I'll take that money and we don't read the back of the page.

It's like you take certain verses of the Bible, you read them and you don't read the rest what the Bible has to say about this topic.

So friends, if we want to know what the Bible has to say about Israel, we have to read the whole book.

And if you read the entire book, you will see that it is a tragic story of a God who was chasing humans to come back to him but they were unwilling.

It started with our first parents, they rebelled against our Creator, then God was passionately winning them back for 1, 500 years.

He tried everything and people became more evil and corrupt every day.

And it got to a point where it was so bad that God said, I have to start all over again.

And I have to, because if I don't, then these people are gonna destroy themselves.

He started over, but then things didn't get better.

They didn't get better and they didn't get better.

And then God said, okay, I'll do something else.

By the way, a nation that is insignificant, that doesn't have any special talents or a special background or anything like that, I'll take that nation of Israel and I'll use them to reflect my character so that the whole world can see how I am really like.

Because if I have just a little group of people that I am blessing, then others will see my character and they will understand who I really am.

This is what God was doing and we read about this in the canon of scripture, but unfortunately that group that he selected didn't follow God.

God was so patient for hundreds and hundreds of years.
