In Search of a Better Home

I just say yes because everybody says yes.

You know, we get to this mindset of, I read a book once that said, you know, the generation of today's young people did not think, right?

And I also read another book that says the title of the book was The Damaged Generation Ever.

And the subject of the book is, you should not trust anyone under the age of 30.

You know, and so I don't know if I should trust you for most of you under the age of 30, but you know, I believe that you've been blessed.

Once again, on another Sunday morning, as we come to the end of ACYC, I have been personally blessed.

I am so grateful, I'm so thankful for how the Lord has worked and the power that the Lord has brought us.

You know, we go to these conferences and we get excited and we get empowered and then 2 weeks we're on fire and then what happens after the second week?

You know, we go back to our old lifestyle and just start forgetting what we started learning.

But 1 thing I share with you before we get started is that 1 of the best ways to stay on fire is when you read the Bible in the book of Ezra chapter 7, verse 10.

You know, Ezra says not only did he tap us in his heart, not only did he desire, but also I mean he prepared his heart to seek the word of God and then the second thing he did is not only seek the word of God to do it many of us came here seeking but are we going to do it you see Bible study is not done until you can do what you learned this morning in your devotion If you woke up in the morning and did your devotion and you like praise the Lord and then you go doing everything against your devotion, you didn't learn anything this morning.

So you, as I say, I purposely had to seek the law of God to do it but also to teach it.

When you're constantly out there sharing, it empowers you, it encourages you, it fires you.

And what happens is that from the conference and from the messages that you had, they still remain new in your life.

And so this morning, I'd like to encourage you that you pray in your mind and say, Lord, once I leave this place, please give me divine appointment.

So that I can share with those who did not have a chance to come what I learned.

So that I can be able to be a blessing to somebody else and by doing so you will also be encouraged and the lord shall Bless you in your spiritual walk.

Let us pray as we get started with our message this morning Father god here we are again before the throne of grace.

We ask you Lord that you may help us that as we continue sharing and as we continue listening that we may be blessed but more so we may seek to do that which we impress upon our heart.

For we know the Bible says in the book of James that he who knows how to do good and doesn't do it is sinning.

Lest we sin because we've had all these messages and we've not put them into application.

So we ask you Lord that you may help us this morning as we go through another session.

It may not just be a message, but Lord you may speak to us in a very special way.

Speak to me Lord and through me for I ask all of you in your love and mercy.

The title of the message this morning is in search of a better home.

We've come here this weekend, we've been seeking and we've been desiring for something better, something much more, something better.

And as I was thinking and reflecting, I realized, you know what?

We need a better home than the homes that we have, right?

And when you read the Bible, in the book of Philippians 3, verses 20, it was quoted yesterday.

Paul writes, the book of Philippians is a beautiful book.

Now, in the book of Philippians chapter 3, verses 20, Paul writes and he says, for our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior and the Lord Jesus Christ.

For our citizenship is not in Africa, but our citizenship is where?

Why we still here if our citizenship is where?

Paul writes and says for our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Now many of us want to go to heaven, but let me tell you 1 thing.

If you get to heaven and Jesus is not there, you're not in heaven yet.

If you're in heaven and Jesus is not there, that's not what?

But when Jesus reigns in your heart, you're aware.

But I keep on asking myself, why are we still in this world?

I keep on, I'm tired of this world, my friend.

I'm tired of education, but you have to do it, right?

Don't quit education because you're tired of it, right?

As long as we live in this world, we still need to continue living.

I always get confused with this notion of home, where is home, Right?

Now you see, for me, I was born and raised in Nairobi, which is the capital city of Kenya.

And my parents were born in Kisii, which is like the farmland.

And every time I was growing up, my parents would say, hey, let's go home.

For me, home is Nairobi, home is not Kisii.

And for my parents, home was Kisii, not Nairobi.

And I come home, and I come from school, I talk to my parents and my dad, and I say, I want to go home.

When my fellow students ask me at home, I mean at school, where are you going?

But when Kenyans ask me where is home, I say home is Kenya, where?

But when Nairobians ask me where is home, home is DC.

And then I moved away to school in New Hampshire, and In New Hampshire, every time we close, people are like, where are you going, home?
