Let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well-doing as unto a faithful creator.

You may want to place on your slip of paper why you think that the Holy Spirit inspired the Apostle Peter to use the term faithful creator for our Lord Jesus Christ.

Why didn't he use the term faithful Redeemer Why didn't he use the term faithful crucified Savior Why did he use the term faithful creator?

Probably when the Apostle Peter wrote this this epistle maybe 30 minutes or maybe the same day before he wrote what we have just read together, he wrote something else.

And it's found in 1 Peter 1, verses 18 and 19.

It says that we were redeemed not by silver and gold from our vain tradition, from the tradition of our fathers, but by the precious blood of Jesus Christ as a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Our redemption is through the blood of Jesus Christ amen that's right now he builds on this redemption in Jesus Christ and said now look you can now completely relax you can commit yourself in well-doing unto the Lord as a faithful creator.

You know my friends the blood of Jesus Christ on Calvary would have been absolutely meaningless were it not the blood of Jesus Christ our maker and our creator right?

There are thousands of people that were crucified, billions of people have died some in ignominy and various kinds of suffering, the suffering of Jesus Christ on Calvary takes deep significance in the fact of who he was.

He is the 1 who formed man out of the dust of the ground and then he came down past stellar worlds and systems and planets to this sin-cursed world and left this dust that he'd made in the hands of man He permitted that dust made in the hands of man place a cruel thorny crown on his brow.

He permitted the mouth and lips and tongue that were made by his own hands from the dust to curse him, to revile him, to scandalize him.

It was our faithful creator who could have blotted the universe out my friends with 1 thought but no he wouldn't do it.

He came down and died on Calvary's cross for you and me and he wants us to know that he was no ordinary man Who suffered and died for you and me?

He said you can commit your souls you can commit yourselves in well-doing to him as your faithful creator.

You know, it would do you and me very well to spend more time studying the closing scenes of the life of Jesus Christ.

I have never yet seen an individual, I've never met an individual yet, who's had a nervous break, who has been Christ-centered.

I've never seen a person who is complaining over the circumstances of life who is Christ-centered.

I've never yet seen a backslider who is Christ-centered.

All we need to commit the keeping of our souls to Jesus Christ our Redeemer our faithful Creator there's another reason why I said faithful Creator what could that be And that brings us to a wonderful story of a precious Nazarene Christian.

You know we've announced the topic tonight, Nazarene's claim promises too.

This godly Nazarene mother had lost her husband about 3 years before.

Her little boy Andy and his younger sister Ruth and his still younger sister Esther Were just little folk Andy was 7 and he was the eldest and they were facing poverty in fact 1 morning as They sat around the table, there was absolutely no food.

Just a salt shaker, the plates, the silverware.

The children broke into tears, mommy, no food, not this morning, children.

We'll be praying that Jesus will give us something today she said I think when we come back from church today for it was on a Sunday she said I think when we come back from church about noon, I think that there will be some food.

They came back from church, sat around the table, absolutely empty.

She said, now you children go out and play.

And she said, I don't want any of you to come back in the house till I come out.

So she kind of guided them out because they were slow to move out, their hearts breaking and their stomachs aching.

She said, now Andy, you watch your little sisters and keep track of them.

And with that, she slipped back into the house to the bedroom.

But little seven-year-old Andy, as still as a mouth and as swift as lightning, followed at a safe distance where his mother couldn't see.

And she was on her knees in the bedroom with the open Bible.

And he heard his mother praying something like this, Dear Lord, you know how hungry we are, we have nothing to eat, We haven't had anything to eat all day.

Andy didn't know for years exactly what that promise was.

He heard the mother say this, you've promised if we bring to you our tithes and offerings That you'll open the windows of heaven and you'll pour us out a blessing And Lord and as she prayed she wiped a tear from her cheeks Dear Lord, I ask you to give us food That's the a of prayer.

Jesus said ask right and Then she used the B of prayer.

And the sea of prayer is to thank God that we are receiving the fulfillment of the promise.

As she started to arise, Andy darted out ahead so she never knew they heard every word that she'd spoken he saw her with her hand on the open Bible He didn't know what the promise was.

Later he learned of course it was Malachi 3, 8 to 12.

As he was outside just a few seconds before his mother came, she came out the door, looked in the children's faces, they looked up at the mother's countenance, and mother said, children, when we return from the meeting tonight, there will be food.

They went to the meeting tonight with their empty stomachs.

As they were coming up to the side door, they found the screen door and between the screen door and the door was a huge platter just packed full of steaming hot supper.

They took it in the table, You can imagine how they thanked God that he'd answered their prayers.

Do you know what impression that prayer And that statement and that gesture of mother, can you imagine what effect that had on that little boy?

He would never forget what kind of a God our God is.

And Jesus said in John 17, verse 3, this is life eternal, that they might know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.

Andy was getting acquainted with a real God it's real it's real I know it's real don't you can you say amen it's real God is real his promises are true Jesus never fails we can commit ourselves unto him as unto a faithful creator for he shed his blood that we might live.

He was forming a relationship with God that would last for years and years.

And I have found in my ministry, my friends, that the prime need of the human heart is acquaintance with our Lord and Savior.

The prime need is not where are the dead.

It's good to know but that's not the prime need.

The prime need is not even to know which day is the Sabbath.

The prime need is to know our Lord and to know and experience a personal relationship and know that when he said, I'll forgive your sins if you confess, to know they're forgiven.

To know when he says, I'll cleanse you, to know that God is true, that he has cleansed us from all the guilt of sin.

This is a personal relationship with God and that was what Andy was experiencing at the age of 7 and 8 and 9 and 10 and 11 now having this beautiful childlike relationship with God you know what happened that relationship that answer to prayer was based on the Bible.

And the Bible is God's love letter to us.

So as soon as Andy could read, he began to just pull over this book.

How could he help but equate it with that steaming hot supper.

When Andy was about 11 or 12 years of age In the Sunday school they they taught the children to memorize the 10 Commandments And when Andy came down to the fourth commandment the seventh days of Sabbath He was amazed He was memorizing it with the other commandments.

He went to the pastor, he said, Pastor, how come when the fourth commandment says the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord, how come that we're keeping the first day?

And the pastor, who was a godly man, he patted little Andy on the shoulder and he said Andy you just follow the teachings of the church and everything will be alright and then he had a far-off look for a long minute and then he turned to Andy and he said Andy has some Seventh-day Adventist been talking to you?

It is the Lord who answers prayer when a little boy and his younger sisters and his dear mother need something to eat and he impresses someone to bring to them a steaming hot supper.

My friend such a God a lad will not soon forget and in this childlike simplicity he said but that's what it says And that brings us to another great lesson.

Do you know it is a lot easier to learn than it is to unlearn?

And especially, friends, when a person spends years and years going through Christian schools and is told this to be a fact and that to be biblical and this to be scriptural and the thing is part of his very being and then all at once he is told that this is not true at all.

Something else is biblical it's very difficult to unlearn but poor little Andy didn't have much unlearning to do.

And his simple childlike trust in Jesus Christ, who came to him at his conscious point of need, led him to say, Pastor, but this is what the Bible says, this is what the Bible says.

You know it's amazing what God can reveal to us if we'll just to us if we'll just relax.

Later on, Andy was reading in the New Testament about the final judgment, about the second coming of Christ, about where the dead are.

See, he had already drunk in of the love of God, he'd already given his life to Jesus Christ, his sins were forgiven and cleansed, he was God's child, now he can branch out and learn other things, but never forget the prime need is to have that personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

From there we can go on and on to the great truths of the Bible, but never let any truth of the Bible ever eclipse the person and the relationship with Jesus Christ.

And you know, then he came across some amazing facts.

We're going to be studying how the Lord Jesus Christ relates himself to a person who is determined to enter upon the supreme luxury of life, whether he be an ordained minister or whether he be a layman.

And friends, all through this experience that we share with you this afternoon may the Holy Spirit help us to know that every 1 of us can be a simple witness and number 2 that every 1 of us will be taken care of financially, if we're not lazy, as we witness to the Lord Jesus.

He'll take care of every layman who will not be so obsessed with making a living that he forgets that his great privilege in life is not making a living, it's witnessing to the love of Jesus Christ, the power of Jesus Christ, the salvation of Jesus Christ, the eternal life of Jesus Christ, the gifts of Jesus Christ, that's our business.

Then he will bless our activity to make the living.

Now if you doubt whether you will do it, if there's any misgiving in your mind, follow through this study.

Will you then with me read the first, the very first gem, this is number 3 on the white sheet, together.

Is there anything Together, is there anything too hard for the Lord?

With God nothing shall be impossible Luke 1 37.

In what way does God want to show his impossible answers to prayer?

We join with him in the great business of the universe.

It's now in the closing days of Earth's history and in the closing days he wants his people to have such a delightful experience in him that all the demons of hell will stand against.

They said look at that, look at this group of Christians who are happy in sharing you.

On the other hand, they're not being lazy and saying, I want somebody to support me because I believe it'll be a lot easier for me to go out and witness than for me to work in the factory.

He wants us wherever we are to witness to his love, to witness to his salvation.

All right let's read the next 1, under number 2 that text.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.

What was Jesus speaking about that would be added?

If we seek first his kingdom, if we determine a witness to him, what will he do about our financial needs?

Now it doesn't mean we want to have tests.

It does not mean we won't have trials of faith.

We shall have great tests, tremendous trials.

Because the devil hates the Christian who's going to witness, so the devil will try to block our way, it's a battle all along the way, it's not going to be a rosy bed of ease, We're not going to be on cloud 9.

But my friends, in every difficulty, God has his way of escape.

I pray under God, and I've been pleading with God today that the Holy Spirit would impress us with this.

We ministers, myself included, again and again have presented to our people in the wrong light.

We've presented it so much as duty, duty, duty that our people have never gotten impression it's the most beautiful thing it's the supreme luxury of the Christian life and may God's Holy Spirit impress each 1 of us.

Anywhere we go, at the factory, where we work, we can speak a word of hope.

Wherever we are, We don't have to say, how can I take the time?

My friends, wherever we work, whatever we're doing, you're in an anniversary, a family reunion.

When I go to an anniversary, a family reunion, or a little group together, you know what I'm praying for?

For the Holy Spirit will help us to witness and to show the love and the delight in Jesus Christ and you know for those of us who can't do anything else to start with there's 1 thing we can do wherever we go we at least let people know that we're happy in Jesus.

You know a sad Venice is 1 of the most terrible animals around they're worse than a coon.

And if we'll just do that, that's a wonderful start.

If our boys and girls see daddy and mommy happy in Jesus, my that's a tremendous witness.

If they see that mommy isn't calling the daddy and daddy isn't trying to boss mommy that's a wonderful witness, tremendous witness.

They say my daddy and mommy don't call anymore what's happened?

They're happy, they're actually smiling each other every once in a while.

So remember that witnessing is not like the man says it ain't what people think.

Witnessing is not what most of our people think.

Witnessing is a delightful presentation, dramatization that Jesus is good, that God is good, that God is love, that God is interested in us, that He cares, see?

If we do it and we make that the main mission of our life, and I want to call on you before this meeting closes, for a dedication to this, to try it out and see for yourself whether it's drudgery or not.

God forbid you know the devil tries to make us think it's drudgery.

It's when we dwell on self that we get so mean and cussed.

When we're out sharing Jesus, there's a joy.

He'll make people, he'll cause people to talk against us and gossip about us and slander about us and write letters about us and all of that that's the devil's work but there still can be peace inside.

All right see how much God takes care of us.

We're sharing with you last and the first service about Andy at the age of 7.

All right we'll just give a little review.

Little Andy at the age of 7 saw his mother when they were poverty stricken and they had had nothing to eat that day, they had nothing in the home, she claimed a Bible promise, and she told them there will be food tonight.

When they came back to the meeting that night, between the screen door and the regular door, there was a huge platter full of steaming hot supper.

When little Andy went out as he grew up he studied this beautiful book from which mother was claiming a promise.

He was falling in love with a wonderful Savior and as he studied he found that the seventh day was the Sabbath though he belonged to a church that didn't know it he went to his ministers and asked them about it he heard that he learned that when Jesus comes then he gives the reward He learned that Jesus doesn't put a comparatively innocent person in hell, and that person burns 2, 000 years longer than Another person who's committed many, many sins, he said, that isn't God.

As Andy reached out farther and farther out for God, he found that he was being persecuted.

The joy of the Lord, the devil tries to what?

And so he lost his class, he lost his Sunday school class, and then he tried to straighten things out with a pastor over a period of years.

He couldn't and finally He just sent the whole church group to blank.

Finally on the way to Korea, the boat was just ready to sail, he knew he was going to probably be killed because they were being devastated.

This is the story of a great woman, multitudes of great women.

And if you'd like, we'll read under gem together the text.

And it fell on a day that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman, and she constrained him to eat bread.

And so it was that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread." The Bible is packed full of great women and you know every time I've heard women's lib discussed, most every time, I found in my heart a pity for the men who indicate that the reason why a woman should stay at home is because she's inferior.

The reason why she should stay at home is because she's superior.

And it needs a superior person to train and shape the molding character of the child.

And that's the reason why women were made to stay at home.

I don't know where in the world men got that idea from their big thoroughbred registered ego.

Of course women ought to have the privilege of holding any kind of an office as far as I'm concerned and the only handicap, the only limitation to that is the fact that that the character of mankind is conditioned on a mother.

There's no work that's done in this world that can be done without the mother or somebody shaping the character of that child.

You can go on and on and on through the Bible Deborah the prophetess, Huldah the prophetess, Philip's 4 daughters who did prophesy on and on and on through the Bible tremendous women.

They may be called a weaker sex but my friends, theirs is the most tremendous responsibility ever committed to mortals.

So brethren if you ever hear men talking about women's lib, I pray the Lord that you will not let yourself be a partner to discussing how women don't have the sense to do what men have.

My friends they have too much sense to go out there and all that crazy stuff for the men have bungled everything all up.

They needed in the home to bless the children to train those those developing minds.

My friends there would never been a Moses.

There would have never been an Exodus as far as Moses was concerned without that tremendous, that tremendous mother, right?

Timothy, Paul writes to Timothy, he said, oh I'm so happy for the faith that was in you first is what it was in the in your grandmother and then your mother.

My wasn't Paul, Paul surely got it all mixed up you know.

You'd have thought Paul had said, it was in your father and your grandfather.

I thank God for great women and if any time have any of you dear ladies or girls, if you're ever tempted to think that you're not doing a wonderful work for God, Remember a quotation that's found from my favorite author in the book The Desire of Ages, page 250, and it goes like this, listen to this, he who loves Christ most will do the most good.

Not he who is the most greatly highly educated, not he who is in the public eye, he who loves Christ most will do the most good.

Look at the little woman who bathed Christ's feet with her tears and old Judah was so upset And Jesus said I want you to know that she is a part of the everlasting gospel that will circle the earth The woman that cast in 2 mites all her living What a tremendous gospel message that has been down to our day of unselfishness Thank the Lord So don't you think it'd be a good thing brethren, the ladies don't have to listen now, wouldn't it be a real good thing if when we go home tonight all of us men tell our wives how much we love them.

The good thing I guess I have to tell this is a little extra.

1 Sabbath morning I was preaching and I noticed at my right, right near the front, there was a great big deacon, big 1, about 5 foot tall, 4 feet wide, not quite that much, and sitting beside him was his wife and they're looking in opposite directions you know and they didn't look happy and my heart went out to them right then in the service and I just interrupted myself I didn't look at them so they'd know it, I thought.

And I said, men when you come home from the meeting, go home from the meeting this morning, tell your wife you love them.

And I was looking off over here and I just hoped he would get the message because I thought I bet you it's been a long while since his wife ever heard him say you're pretty sweet you know and I thought maybe Lord help it to get through and you know that night it fell to my task to go out and pick them up and bring them to meetings and they sat in the back seat the 2 of them just about filled the back seat and on the way in the man began to chuckle I didn't know he could chuckle and he said pastor you know what you told me to do this morning?

He said, you told us to go home, tell our wives we love them.

He said, when we got home I said, honey, I love you.

And he said, I repeat it again, I really love you.

And he said, I kept repeating it until he said and he began to chuckle some more he said until I finally convinced her didn't I honey he said and she chuckled back she said yes honey and I tell you I don't know I seem to get the the humor out of things I thought he's calling her honey and she's calling him honey and they're big well 2 big chunks of honey ought to have more honey in it then 2 little chunks of honey I said praise the Lord.

God wants us men to appreciate our wives and he wants us to appreciate God's handmaidens everywhere.

Don't ever think, my beloved friends and dear ladies, don't ever let the devil tell you that your life is meaningless.

He who loves Jesus the most will do the most good and it doesn't make any difference how much he is in the public eye, he may be over in a corner but he'll still in the kingdom to come as a trace through You'll find that that soul that loved Jesus the most, little mouse in the corner, will have done the most good.

And that's true with any of us men, same thing.

And you know it doesn't depend on how highly educated we are or how intelligent we are.

You know, I never cease, I never cease to thank God for being so good to me.

I just thank him from the depths of my heart.

From the time I started in the ministry until today, and I don't think I've ever told an audience this before, I've looked in the faces of the people to whom I've spoken, and I thought, my, my, look at those men.

Any of those men are more intelligent than I am.

But God is willing to use you and me if we'll just let him do it.

Just surrender our will to him and he isn't looking for big heads, he's looking for big hearts.

He's looking for people who will say, Lord not I but Christ be honored, be loved, exalted.

Not I but Christ be seen, be known, be heard.

Well let me share with you in Andy's experience and I think this is chapter 11 in our book, the answer was created called a great a great woman beginning with page 88 and we've listed here a number of great women of the Bible and you remember some little child asked me if these were true.

Friends every time we write a book we check and double-check because Jesus is true and he wants true he wants us to give the truth.

Now we left Andy last night in college he was now in college having all kinds of trouble you know why was having all kinds of trouble because Satan when he sees you'll get answers to prayer how does it affect Satan anybody?

He is a devil, and that's his business, is to try to get us to become discouraged because of circumstances and Andy was receiving 1 miracle after another but he had a family of 5 3 children his wife and himself she was working her head off so to speak, he was doing the same.

And yet, how in the world, taking full work, college work, How could he ever support his family?

And finally, as we're about to start another semester, whether it's the third or fourth semester he was there, I don't recall, they were ready to start another semester and he received a letter from the business office stating that he owed the college $855 and he must pay that before he matriculated for the next semester but more than that he must also advance $225 more.

Now, there are 4 promises that Andy and his family claimed.

And I want to share these because, my friends, you will want to claim promises.

I asked him what kind of promises he claimed.

And those of you who can quote it will you quote it with me if any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God that give us to all men liberally and upbraideth not and it shall be given him but let him ask in faith nothing wavering for he that wavereth is like of the wave of the sea driven with a wind and tossed for let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord." So he asked God for wisdom and you know when you ask God for wisdom, or any other promise that you claim, let me make this suggestion, try it out.

Don't ask just for it, Ask for Jesus in the form of it.

When I ask for wisdom, what am I asking for?

1 Corinthians 1.30, Christ is made unto us wisdom.

I'm asking for Jesus Christ, for the life of Christ in the form of wisdom.

And thou shalt speak and say before the Lord thy God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father.

And he went down into Egypt and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation great, mighty, and populous." And then the next, "'Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord has done for thee.

Now the first text, the gem text, explains the pit from which we were digged.

And the second shows how we go out and share what he's done for us.
