Are You Attached?

If you have your bibles, turn your bibles in the book of Genesis.

Genesis the first book of the bible and chapter 16 reading verse 1, 2 and 3 And then we're going to switch to Genesis 21.

If you're there, let me know by saying yes.

Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had born him no children.

A gypsum maid servant whose name was Hagar.

So Sarah say to Abraham see now the Lord has restrained me from bearing children.

And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai, Lord have mercy.

The story says here, you know, the story Sarai could not have children.

And the story says that she told her husband, go and sleep with the maid.

I don't know if you're comfortable with that but that's what the story is telling us.

Verse 3 then Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband, Abram, to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt 10 years in the land of Canaan.

Hold your finger now, go with me now to Genesis 21.

Verse 9 said, And Sarah saw the son of Hagar, the Egyptian whom she had born to Abraham, mocking.

Therefore she said to Abraham, cast out this bondwoman and her son for the son of this bondwoman shall not be here with my son namely with Isaac.

She's sitting in the tent, and she saw far off that Hagar, the son of Hagar, mocking her son.

So she got mad and now she goes to Abraham.

Verse 11 And the matter was very displeasing in Abraham's sight because of his son.

But God said to Abraham, Do not let it be displeasing to your sight because of the lad or because of your bondwoman.

You see you can fool me but you cannot fool God.

You see Abraham, Abraham's excuse was no no no I cannot let go of her because of my son but God said no no no it's not the son because you're so attached to the bond woman.

Whatever Sarah has said to you, listen to her voice, for in Isaac your seed shall be called, verse 13.

Yet I will also make a nation of the son of the bondwoman because of your seed.

So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and skin of water and putting it on her shoulder She gave it and the boy to Hagar and sent her away.

This morning, I'm gonna talk to you about, Are you attached?

You see, people don't realize they have become attached to something without knowing it until they're ready to give it up.

The title of our talk this morning, Are You Attached?

Abraham was trying to perform this promise of God.

Here comes Sarah and she said, I got this together because you know Sarah couldn't have any kids.

So Sarah now comes along and said, baby I got this together.

It's so difficult for me to explain what Sarah said to her man.

Because I've been married now for 15 years to this beautiful wife of mine and praise God for that.

I've been married for 15 years and I know it's a baby for some of you guys, but I've been married for 15 years and I've never heard Mrs.

Fatoy said, I tell you what baby, I want you to go and, with another woman.

I've never seen anybody in my life who feels comfortable to give up their man for some other woman.

So here, Abraham, this is what Sarah did.

She went to Abraham and said, honey, I want you to go and sleep with our maid servant because we're gonna make this promise of God come to life through the bond woman see me I suggest something to you this morning the reason why we cannot move forward in life the reason why we are stuck in life because we are trying to do God's job.

We need to allow God to do what he does best.

You see, Abraham now, Abraham and Hagar are involved in this relationship.

Now imagine what it's like to live in this house with Abraham, Hagar and Sarah and to know that he is in the room with another woman.

You see Sarah allowed her emotions to take place that later she cannot control.

Because see for I can do whatever I want to do without any consequences.

See The reason why you are drowning in your consequences is because you have allowed that toxic thought to come in your mind.

And now it's affecting your emotion, your feelings, and now it's affecting your action, and now you are dealing with the consequences that you don't like.

You see, Sarah was fooled to think that she, I can do whatever I want to do without any consequences.

Picture now in the tin, we're looking at the consequences.

You see, because I'm a preacher, I like to picture stuff in my head.

I like to picture the word active in my head.

Now you have in this tent, you have Hagar, Abraham and the maid.

And now the story now tells us that Hagar is now pregnant to Abraham.

And Abraham always wanted to have a child.

You can imagine Hagar, she's like, oh she's showing now, okay, picture with me.

So she's now sitting, 000I can feel the kick.

So now, she's like, Abraham, quickly Abraham, come, come, come, feel Abraham.

So now, she's like, Abraham, quickly, Abraham, come, come, come, feel, Abraham.

No, no, don't put your hand, put it right here.

Sarah is left right out completely of their situation.

She is left out completely of their situation.

You have Hagar now has something in common with Abraham, But Sarah doesn't.

You don't you don't understand how powerful attachments are because sometimes you don't see attachment pulling you back because you're trying to go forward but you can't.
