Daniel 2: Introduction

Welcome to this two-part presentation that we're doing on Daniel chapter 2 and the plan of redemption.

The origin of this presentation started back in the fall of 2008, and I have outlined that in this brochure that I have during the seminars.

And it tells the history also on the back.

Basically, back in the fall of 2008, I was sharing the presentation that you are seeing part 1 of, and I was frustrated thinking there's got to be a simpler way to explain the life-giving truths that my Heavenly Father has helped show me in Daniel chapter 2.

And so after praying and studying more in the next 2 or 3 months, God answered that prayer of helping to present these life-giving truths in a more understandable, cogent manner.

But like he says in Ephesians 3, verse 20, he says that he loves and delights to give us abundantly above all we ask or think.

And so not only did he in the next few months share with me the answer to my request, a better, more efficient way of explaining the truths, the life-giving truths in Daniel chapter 2, But he also helped me see an assurance of my salvation, as you're seeing in this picture here and the simplest plan of salvation I've ever seen.

That is in part 2 of this presentation, and I would invite you to take a look at that as well.

Anyway, the way the 2 connect together, and I was wondering, thank you for all 3, how does the 2 and 3 connect with 1?

In other words, the plan of redemption and the assurance of salvation.

Long story short, Daniel 2 is the foundation chapter of all the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation, and then 7 simply adds to detail, which we will see in this first portion of the seminar called Daniel chapter 2.

In Daniel chapter 7, we see that God the Father and the Son are in a work of pre-advent judgment also known as the investigative judgment.

And what they are doing is looking for the Christ-like character in his people, described up here by Christ at his Lord's Supper, and he is servant serving the Master and submitting to God in all things.

This is what they are looking for in the books of Daniel chapter 2.

So the connection then, or Daniel 7 verses 9 and 10, and so the connection that we're seeing then is that since the Father and the Son are looking for this Christ-like character in my life, it only stands to reason that they must necessarily give us a simple plan by which we can know through Christ that what they're looking for in those books are there.

Thus, the second part, the plan of redemption.

And with that, we see an assurance of our salvation, and that is awesome to me.

So having said that, I am, like I say in this brochure, my goal now and my willingness is to share these life-changing truths with everyone in any media that I can possibly do.

And to show basically the prophecies of Daniel chapter 2 in the broader context of the great controversy.

Secondly, the simple plan of redemption, having Christlikeness in us, with an assurance of our salvation in the pre-advent judgment, also known as the investigative judgment, also known as the great day of atonement.

And additionally, my goal is to help each person in both of these parts, this 1 here on Daniel chapter 2, including the plan of redemption, to discover new truths about the character of the Father displayed by the Son on this earth and in the sanctuary system that shows us that they can be loved and admired in the courtyard of the heavenly sanctuary of strength, in the holy place, and in the most holy place.

So having said that, there's 1 other point that I would like to encourage each person who will view this DVD and that is this.

2 years ago I left McKee Foods Corporation after being there for 24 years with my Heavenly Father, your Heavenly Father nudging me to do this.

In the last 2 years I wouldn't trade for anything professionally.

So if God is nudging you to do some dream, I don't know what it is.

It could be writing a composition, it could be writing music, it can be whatever.

If He has encouraged you to do something for Him, go for it.

Now let's take a look at Daniel chapter 2.

Let us pretend that you are Nebuchadnezzar.

You went to bed wondering what's the future holding for the planet?

And I'm going to read you a passage in Daniel chapter 2 verses 27 through 29 and Nebuchadnezzar is being told by Daniel what was going on the night that he had this dream that we will see here in a moment.

Daniel chapter 2 verses 27 through 29 say this, Daniel answered in the presence of the king and said, the secret which the king has demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers show unto the king." So he's basically giving the worldly wise the ability, can you answer the question of the king.

And he tells the king rhetorically, obviously, they cannot.

So in verse 28 he says, But there is a God in heaven that reveals secrets and makes known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days.

That's what he was wondering when he went to sleep that evening.

So he continues by saying, Your dream and the visions of your head upon your bed are these.

As for you, O King, your thoughts came upon your into your mind upon your bed.

And yet how many times do people do the same thing?

They go to psychics, they go to any other source to find out what's going to be in the future when they have it right here in the Word of God.

Specifically, in this dream of Daniel chapter 2, 7 symbols.

And he that reveals secrets makes known to you what shall come to pass.

So that was the question that you went to bed with, and this was the dream that you forgot.

They couldn't, and so Daniel comes in, shows first the dream then followed by the interpretation.

So Daniel says Nebuchadnezzar you saw in your head the head of gold, you saw silver, brass, You saw silver, brass, iron, feet of iron and clay.

Then you saw this stone, which incidentally is the focal point of the entire dream, coming toward the large image and shatter it to pieces.

Then that stone became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

Now we are wanting to see, okay, what's the interpretation?

And so Daniel proceeds to tell him the interpretation.

You, O King, were watching, and behold a great image.

This great image, whose splendor was excellent, stood before you, and its form was awesome.

This image's head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of clay.

You watched while a stone was cut out without hands, which struck the image on its feet of iron and clay and broke them in pieces.

Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were crushed together and became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors.

The wind carried them away so that no trace of them was found.

And the stone that struck the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth." Daniel 2, 31 to 35.

So now you actually see in your dream, in your audience chamber, in your palace, what you dreamed and the interpretation which we are going to unfold in the next 3 sessions for this video DVD.

Notice with me that there are actually 7 symbols in Daniel chapter 2.

There's a head of gold, the chest of arms of silver, belly and thighs of brass, legs of iron, the feet of iron and clay, there is a stone, and then there is a mountain.

And what we're going to notice is this stone is the clear focal point of the entire dream.

But at this point let's pause and ask ourselves what is 1 of the points of prophecy?

And there can be several points of prophecy, but 1 of them that sometimes may be overlooked is to meet Christ in Daniel and become like him.

Let's take a look at a few verses that actually show that.

Let's turn here to John chapter 5 and verse 39, and we will read the following.

Search the scriptures, for in them ye think that you have eternal life, but they are they that testify of me." So the point of Scripture is to show Christ.

Having seen that, let's now notice another passage.

This time we want to look at 2 Timothy 3 and verse 16.

This begins very briefly by saying that all Scripture All Scripture is given by inspiration.

So that says, All Scripture, meaning Daniel and Revelation.

So if we put these 2 together, notice what we see.

We discover that when we study the Scripture, we should find Christ, Daniel and Revelation are Scripture, so we should actually find Christ in the book of Daniel.

Then Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 3, verse 18, by beholding Christ, we become changed like him.

So what that means is that when I am looking at Daniel I should see Christ and become changed like him specifically meaning that I will become more like Christ, meaning I will then discover I am living for others and submitted to God in all things.

This is the product of studying Daniel and Revelation.

Let's think of a few other verses that we want to take in consideration here.

This time we are looking at Daniel chapter 12, that is, the last chapter.

Many shall be purified and made white and tried, but the wicked shall do wickedly, and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.

So Daniel 12, verse 10 says the wise shall understand." Understand what?

Primarily, who Christ is, be changed into His likeness, meaning they will become more others-focused and submitted to God.

Now let's look at 1 other verse and we're going to watch a video clip.

Let's look now to Matthew chapter 7 verses 24 through 27.

Christ says here, the wise hear and do what I say.

Those who are not wise, they will hear, but not do." So let's take a look at this next video clip to see what happens if we are reading Scripture specifically Daniel and Revelation but not being changed in His image, meaning not becoming others-centered and submitted to God in all things.

Every treasure that the house owner has that's in that house is being washed down the stream.

You and I have the treasures of every prophecy in Daniel and Revelation, But if that knowledge in our house is not seeing Christ and being changed into His image, Christ says that we will be washed away.

Daniel 2: Part 1

I want to thank you again for being a part of this DVD Daniel 2 Plan of Redemption seminar and I appreciate you bringing your charts again.

We're going to actually tie this seminar into specific parts on panel C.

We'll exclusively be on the back panel C.

What we're wanting to do this segment is to actually take a look on the board here for resuming where we were last time.

So if you wouldn't mind take a look at the back panel C and you will find this focus on point 2 summarized.

So this way you will be able to take the information you'll see in large form with other people on panel C.2.

So as a review from last segment we're noticing that in Daniel chapter 2's dream there is several images, actually 1 image, 7 symbols, and the stone we found is actually the focal point, which this slide is going to show us.

And in the King James Version, the dream part has 143 words, and so we're graphing this.

We see that here the introduction has 25 words.

So you can actually see that the clear focus of Daniel chapter 2's dream is that stone.

Now for those who want to see this actually in the pie graph which you also have on your chart, panel C.2, you actually have a pie graph.

And so what we have is showing in a different way 84 words.

This huge 60% slice compared to everything else.

So clearly that stone is the focal point of the entire dream.

So on this board here we actually have the dream, the image pasted here.

We have the head of gold, silver, chest, brass, iron legs, feet and toes of iron and clay, the stone, and the seventh symbol is a mountain.

So this chart is saying that this sixth symbol is the focus of the entire dream.

And what I would like to do at this point is to call our attention to building towards this crescendo or the conclusion.

And so we're seeing that point number 1, the focus of the entire Daniel chapter 2 is this stone.

What I'd like to take us to now is to say, or ask the question, since this stone is the focal point of the entire dream, what is it?

So rather than just having an assumption and just say our Adventist bias is XYZ, let's ask the scriptures.

What we're going to do is actually take a look at the dream in the yellow and the interpretation in the green and on your chart you'll find this information on point number 3.

So if someone's asking you what's that stone you can go to point number 3 here on your chart and actually explain to them what you're going to see here.

I'm actually going to break it down line by line so it's a little easier for you to follow.

So we have on the dream there's a stone as Daniel 2 verse 34 shows.

So he says, Daniel does to Nebuchadnezzar, you saw till, which is a time frame, a stone cut out without hands which smote the image upon the feet that were of iron and clay and broke them to pieces." So this stone is actually breaking the entire image to pieces.

Let's take a look on the interpretation side.

The kingdom is the interpretation Daniel 2.44 says, In the days of these kings, what kings?

The kings of the feet and toes divided Europe.

In the days of those kings, which gives us our time frame, shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom.

Number 2, we'll notice this more significant tomorrow, never destroyed.

To the Hebrew mind, this was important because if we compare this with the other symbols, Babylon was destroyed by the succeeding kingdom of Medo-Persia, Medo-Persia by Greece, etc.

This kingdom shall not be left to other people.

This also was important to the Hebrew mind because they were in Babylonian captivity.

They had left their homes, their vineyards, their everything to Babylon, then to Medo-Persia, etc.

So this stone is going to break kingdoms in pieces.

So now the point is since this symbol of a stone has the same activity of breaking the image to pieces and this kingdom also breaks these kingdoms in pieces, then the clear biblical definition is that this stone right here is clearly a kingdom.

Now to become a little bit more specific, take a look at how these 2 relate.

So when we reread this we can see that Daniel was telling Nebuchadnezzar in symbol form, you saw till a kingdom was set up by God.

Nebuchadnezzar did, Cyrus, Medo-Persia, Alexander the Great, Greece, the Caesars, Rome, divided nomads, this 1.

The God of heaven is the 1 that sets this up.

All right, let's take a look at the next slide.

This is going to again bring home this very point.

So if there was any question that this is a kingdom, let's go to this slide.

Here's the stone, And in verse 45 it says right here, 245, the kingdom God sets up shall break in pieces the kingdoms.

And so we have it breaking iron in pieces.

That's a symbol of the fourth kingdom, which we'll see here in a moment.

In verse 37, it breaks brass in pieces, the third kingdom.

The symbol of clay is broken to pieces by the symbol of the stone.

And so the symbol of a stone is breaking other symbols of kingdoms, and therefore it's very clear that this stone again is a kingdom.

Just like we have seen in other presentations, when we see water in Bible prophecy, we know according to Revelation chapter 17, 15, water is people.

So every place you see water, you can say people and that interpretation will then make sense.

We should now be able to take this word and look any place in Daniel, the dream and the interpretation 34 and 35 and 44 and 45 and replace the word stone with kingdom and it should fit every time.

So let's take a look at this slide and that's what it says.

In these circles you will see that there are only 3 times in the dream in the interpretation that symbol is used.

In the yellow we see the dream, the green, light green is interpretation.

The dream mentions a stone twice, Once there, once here.

And so if this model fits water equals people or stone equals kingdom, then we should be able to put that biblical interpretation back in the dream and it should fit every time and it certainly does.

In the dream, Daniel 2.34, it says, you saw till a kingdom was cut out without hands, which, which what?

In the blue kingdom smote the image upon its feet that were of iron and clay.

Then was the iron, clay, brass, silver, gold, broken to pieces together.

In other words, it's the same event, namely the second coming.

Became like the chaff of the summer threshing floors, and the wind carried them away, so that no place was found for them.

Daniel 2: Part 2

Well, thank you for joining us for the third and remaining part in Part 1 of the Daniel 2 presentation.

I'm sure that the first 2 presentations have perhaps generated questions that you might want further answers to.

I don't have all the answers, but I'd be glad to share with you further questions, answers that you might find.

Having said that, let us continue with our focus on this focal point that we've seen the last time, this stone.

We notice that every 1 of these kingdoms here, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, Europe, the Kingdom of Glory, and the Kingdom of Grace have 5 components.

You can find this on your chart, panel C, and point 4.

The kingdom of glory has Christ who serves others and is self-denying.

The citizens of this Stone Kingdom are sheep like their shepherd.

The laws that govern this kingdom, the royal law, love God with all your heart, love your neighbor as yourself.

Every kingdom has a component of terms, Terms of citizenship, in other words, love God with all your heart, love your neighbor as yourself.

They also have terms or territory and duration.

And this kingdom has the entire earth forever.

That's the question Nebuchadnezzar went to sleep with, wondering what's going to happen to his kingdom, which is going to inherit this earth, and how long will it last, his or someone else's?

God's answer to him was, the kingdom who is like Christ in character will inherit the earth and stand forever.

So what's interesting to notice is that these 5 components actually shift through the 3 phases that we will be seeing here shortly.

The focus of Daniel 2 is God's stone kingdom with 5 components.

King, Christ, citizens, sheep, laws that govern His kingdom, the 10 Commandments, love God, love man, terms of citizenship, love God, love man, and territory and duration, this earth forever.

Now let's turn our focus to the next part of this kingdom.

Again, you will find this in your chart, panel C, end point 5.

The first phase we see here in Daniel chapter 2 verse 34, and I've broken this down phase by phase.

You saw till a stone was cut out without hands, smote the image, broke it to pieces, no place found for those pieces, then this stone filled the whole earth.

The stone First cut from this mountain, phase 1.

Then it smites all these kingdoms, breaks them to pieces.

A thousand years later, consumes them to ashes, and this kingdom fills the earth.

In the days of these kings, the God of heaven shall set up a kingdom, not be destroyed.

The kingdom not left to other people, but the kingdom shall break in pieces, second coming, consume all these kingdoms, reduce to ashes, and this kingdom shall stand forever." right here.

So notice that the characteristics, 2 of the characteristics that we'll see in Daniel 7, this kingdom, not destroyed, stands forever.

Now sometimes people ask, well is this actually what we find throughout the rest of Scripture?

Here we have cut means pre-advent judgment.

We find this in Daniel 2 verses 34, 44, and 45.

In the book of Revelation we find this for those who love the book of Revelation.

14.7 says the hour of his judgment has come.

In Matthew 22, 11 through 14, we also find the same idea of judgment.

The next phase is the smite phase, the second coming.

Those who like Revelation will find the same event in 14 through 20.

The reason I picked this is because these 2 events, the judgment is followed by the Second Coming.

Then we drop down and see in 19 verses 11 through 21, we pick up the idea of the second coming, which is also mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2.8.

Then we have a thousand years And the next event occurs.

The devil is there according to Revelation 20 verses 1 through 6.

That's supplemented by Isaiah 24 verses 19 through 22.

Then the consuming phase, the punishment of the wicked, is mentioned in 35 and 44 of Daniel 2, followed by Revelation 27 through 15, and these verses here that show that the root and branches are reduced to ashes.

Then we have the third and final phase, the fill phase, the new earth.

It's a lot of verses, but it's to show this.
